Unfortunately access to the GRO indexes via Ancestry.co.uk is no longer free - you have to pay/be a subscriber to get into them. I think the free access was just a "come on" to get people interested.

Sorry for misleading you willyb   :( :-[ After I'd posted did wonder if it was no longer the case but have been unable to get on there at all this morning  to check.

Don't think we do liz - when I said check meant check if the BMD images were still free to look at rather than check if I could find the marriage. I'm just being confusing today ??? :D

No youre not! I knew what you meant, but I also knew they are not free, but I was just rewinding to Bedfordshireboy's point about posting about living people.

If willyb knows that they are indeed no longer with us, then I would like to ask him if he has any other info whatsoever on them, well there must be some to know they exist and that they might have married and it might be in Luton etc etc. Then we can start hunting around.
But no point beginning the detective work by asking more questions if they are still around and therefore the answers to the questions cant be posted!

there - my turn to be confusing

Stan passed away some 20 years ago and Con is still alive (she is 91)
and still lives in Luton

It is part of Rootschat policy that we do not post info about living people - therefore we wanted to see if that applies to this situation, which you have confirmed it does.

As there is a reasonably large date range to look through for this marriage, I was not going to take on the search without asking you for some more information to try and narrow it down.

That is not now appropiate as the info would relate to a living person.

Is there any reason why you cannot just approach the person and ask if she has her marriage cert?

Try site:  www.missingyou.com

Also try the local newspaper [I found my Dad's WW11 comrade after 60 years via a local paper].

I think, as a rule, one does not post out much info on living persons out of politeness and if one is searching for a living person to just give name but [not date of birth] - one would not help criminals?
