Hi Alison

I will keep a note of your request and take it with me when I next visit the ERO.  This may not be until April as I have an 81 year old mum downsizing and moving from Suffolk to Essex on 13th March, an 81 year old dad who is in residential care (Alzheimers) and three teenagers - so I'm a little busy at present!

I agree with you I've had some very helpful responses to my queries so it is nice to be of help to others.

Regards
Deborah

Hi Alison

Sorry but I haven't forgotten you.  My mum moves into her new property this coming Thursday (3rd April) so she will be settled - well apart from being surrounded by millions of boxes!  So all being well I aim to visit the ERO sometime the following week (w/b 7the April).  However, as it is the two week Easter break for us here in Essex from this coming Monday I may get down to the ERO before Thursday.

I'll print off the info you've posted and take it with me.  Fingers crossed after your patient wait I come back with some info for you.

Regards
Deborah

Hi Alison

Finally I made it to the ERO this afternoon.  I found the baptism of John Fenn on 17 March 1822 - he was born on 17 November 1821 (a helpful Rector recorded his birth at baptism).  His parents were a John and Sarah Fenn.  The church was just recorded as Gt. Coggeshall.  I imagine it was St. Nicholas.

I also found a sibling for John - Rebecca baptised 13 May 1826 (born 12 April 1826).  I was a little short on time (as usual!) and a further visit could probably unearth some more siblings.  I did quickly look at the marriages around the 1820s but couldn't see John and Sarahs.  However, Sarah could have been from another parish and married there.

I did find a marriage for a Edward Fenn (? John senior's brother) to a Charlotte Bridge on 8th January 1822 at Coggeshall.

I hope the above is of use and furthers your searching?

Regards.
Deborah
