Hi Jenny :)

I have looked at the Inch- Soulseat and there are 5 Blains in the index, I don't have time at the moment...christmas stuff to finish off ::) but I will transcribe this evening for you. Do you have some names ???

There are none in the Kirkcolm Old Parish Churchyard with headstones.

~~~~~~~~
There is quite a long one  which was erected by an Andrew McGaw Shoemaker Stranraer and his wife was Jane Blain who died 31st October 1899 aged 69. If you think this is yours I'll give all the info.
There is also another long one for the Bennoch family and within it is James Bennoch farmer Sheuchan died Sept 1838 aged 57 and his spouse Jane Blain died March 1863 aged 84. Their children: Peter died April 1840 aged 35, Jessie died March 1855 aged 35 and William died 1861 aged 35
Thanks greatly Terry!  It's the older ones that I'm interested in. There were a whole bunch of Blains in the 18th and early 19th century and I'm trying to sort out which ones are who... things like the mention of William Blain being 'tenant at Ringnillie' are precious!
The one about the shoemaker in Stranraer - only if there is any mention of whose daughter Jane Blain was. There was a Janet or Jessie born around 1820, father William Blain, and a Jean or Jane b. around 1825, father Peter.
The Bennoch one looks potentially very interesting indeed - yes please.  I have a Jean or Jane b. around 1778. I'll try looking for the Bennoch/Blain marriage.
Some of the names of the 18th century people (who may well have lived into the 19th c.) - James, Patrick/Peter, Robert, Jean/Jane, Janet, William, Thomas, Charles.
A James Blain who appears to have been tenant at Dalhabboch married Janet McBryde in 1777. Any mentions of MacBrydes are interesting to me too.
All best,
Jenny
Terry - updating info a little bit. A Mary McKibbon was married to James Blain in 1782... I'd be very interested in any McKibbon (or McCubbins) MIs also!
All best,
Jenny
Hi Jenny, :)
There are no McCubbin(s) or McKibbon in Inch but there are two in Kirkcolm.  Do you want them.
