VIC Lookup Req BMD Please!

Hi

Is anyone able to help with the following:

(1) Birth of Nicholas Constantine SIDERIS abt 1916 in Victoria
(2) Birth of George SIDERIS abt 1919 in Victoria
(3) Birth of Helen SIDERIS abt 1924 in Victoria

Father was Con SIDERIS from Greece.(births prob in Sth Melb)

(4) Also a (second) marriage between Con SIDERIS and a Helen in abt 1921.

(5) I can't locate any records of the first wife, name unknown.

Also according to the death entry for Con, in 1960, he was widowed.

V Sideris is the informant and was residing at the same address. (who was this!!??)

I would LOVE to have any death/births/marriage info for all of the above people. I also cannot find them on the voters registers.

Hi -

I cannot find any SIDERIS in the indexes for the period you request.  Births not available on disk after 1920 but marriages to 1842 and deaths to 1985.

I could only find SIDERIS in the death indexes 1920-1985

I agree with Cando - nothing on the Vic index that looks anything like Sideris - I checked all the folks called Nicholas as well.

Nothing that I can see on the marriage either.

I used wildcard searches with s* and n * and c* and then trawled - nothing.  I note form your previous postings that you  may not be sure of places of birth...or perhaps I have misunderstood...only quickly scanned the posts.

Could be worth asking Ruskie to check - the Qld  births go to 1919 on the fiche & marriages to 1939 - I checked NSW births on the CD which go to 1918 - nothing there.

If you haven't already done so, it might be worth having a look at the National Archives of Australia.

There are 124 'hits' for the word Sideris, including several for George, Nicholas and even one for Con Sideris.

It looks as if there was a family sponsored to migrate in about 1926-27 by others who were already in Australia.

Also, I note that a C Sideris, aged 25, arrived in Victoria in March 1914 aboard the Orama as an unassisted immigrant (Public Record Office of Victoria). Could this be Con?

Maybe something here will tie into your research.

Thanks everyone for your help, it has been wonderful.

I will be going to the PRO at the end of the month to check out that listing for C SIDERIS. I think that is him, as the date of arrival is correct and his age is only 2 years different. Also, with such an usual surname, what would be the chances of it being someone else!?

I also located a possible immigration file for a CON SIDERIS and rang them up. They said this persons dob is 15/8/1889 and were living in Melbourne so it could be the person i am looking for!

I also purchased a death certificate for Con SIDERIS which was the correct one from Victoria BMD.
