Goodacre
« on: Monday 03 March 08 21:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Is anyone researching the Goodacre family from Lewstern, Leicestershire?

I am looking for the birth and parents  of John Goodacre, born around 1820, Lewstern ( according to census 1851).

He was married in Bingham, 1850, to Anne Howitt and then seems to have moved into Nottinghamshire.

The IGI has several possible contenders but I am not terribly familiar with Leicestershire and as none of the entries actually mentions Lewstern, I'm not sure which is most likely to be my man.

Any help in pinning him down would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen

I like the look of that. On Multimap it is spelt Sewstern so very probably the right place. Thanks, Mike.

So - to repeat the original quetsion - Is anyone connected to the Goodacre family from Sewstern or can anyone tell me about the parents of John Goodacre, born around 1820 in, or near, this place?

Cheers,

Jen

in order to progress your requests as regards his parents you really need to view/purchase his 1850 marriage certificate.

Pauline -  I shall almost certainly do that but as I am doing this for a friend, I am trying not to spend too much of her hard earned money!

Mike - I had seen that entry but until you sorted out the Sewstern mystery, I wasn't sure whether or not Buckminster was the right area. The certificate will verify it but it does look as if you have found my man for me.

Thanks both,

Jen

Hi Mike, sorry about the delay in replying, I work away from home and have had no internet access since Wednesday morning.

Thank you so much for the details of John's baptism and his parents' marriage. Another step for my friend's tree - she will be really pleased.

Cheers,

Jen
