How could I find which church Joseph Morgan was baptised in in about 1818 please. He named his first son William and second son Joseph.
He probably married Margarette THOMAS  in Pontypool c 1842 [ that is where she and their first children were born.

This is a huge coincidence. I've looked up this family for someone else on Rootschat. Don't know if you know this other researcher.

Slight problem with finding baptisms in Wales - the huge influence of non-conformity and not all non-conformists practised infant baptism. Also, Merthyr Tydfil was the largest town in Wales at the time and looking for a Morgan  - well, needles and haystacks come to mind. Someone on here might have an index that could help.

yes we are working together
Thank you for that good advice and links.  I see we will have great trouble finding  our Joseph Morgan's baptism, c 1818 M.Tydfil.

We now know we are also looking for a connection who was surnamed EVANS and was the "wealthiest carriage  builder in England at one time" . [England was a  word that, out here,  often apllied to Great Britain.]

Also we will probably  be getting the birth certificate of William Morgan born c 1847 Pontypool, as an obituary said his birthday was on  Christsmas day  and  he dropped dead the day before his 50th birthday in 1897!  What a bit of luck - such a detailed obituary was found.
