No I don't have any of his medals, the only one that still exists is his MM, and that is held by his great nephew.  It's a long story, but it includes two familys who knew nothing about each other until recently.

Look forward to hearing more, thanks Ady

mmm45.  Can I just make a slight interruption.  I notice that you mention the SWB list and that it could be "looked up" for details etc.  Can you please let me know how one can do that.  Is it e.g. on N.A.?  Any help gratefully received.  Many thanks.

Bill

Hi Bill
Yes the SWB list is available to be checked either by number or by the list off the MICs.
Im getting a couple done now by  a researcher its costing me a little more than downloading a MIC per name.
The SWB  lists usually gives dates enlisted/discharged cause of discharge and unit.

Its NOT online :(

Thought you may like to see a typical example of the SWB list and what info is given. This one shows an ancestor of mine.

Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

I've got one of those Neil :)

I was on the wrong trail for a while, and have the records of a total stranger, but with the same name as my grandfather.

Ady, do you mind if I ask where you found your researcher?  I've looked at a couple who advertise, they seem very expensive, and have no vacancies at the moment.
