I transcribed the following page longhand some time ago as a matter of interest, let's hope I got it right!
If you happen to have any forebears who were of the Baptist persuasion you might be lucky enough to find records like this page from the Horsley GLS Baptist church records.
Benjamin and Mary Francis had born to them
Enoch (at Nailsworth) Decem'r ye 12th 1757
Mary (at Nailsworth) Sept'r ye 4th 1759
Benjamin (at Nailsworth) March ye 19th 1761 (Aside - can find no burial record)
Elizabeth (at Horsley) Decem'r ye 2nd 1762
Sarah (at Horsley) May ye 16th 1764
the second wife (Aside - cannot find any marriage)
Enoch the Son of B & M Francis was born Nov'r 17th 1767
Benjamin the Son of B & M Francis was born Mar 11th 1771
and lived only nineteen weeks.
Elizabeth Francis was born Decem'r 29 1773
A Son born (but died 12 days old) Sep'r ye 7th 1775
Catherine was born . . . . . . . . . . . April 28 1777
Hester was born Oct 9 died Aug 25 1790 ? . . .? 1779 (Aside - died 25/8/90 squashed in)
Nathaniel Dunscombe was born Aug'st 13th 1782 (Aside - cannot understand "Dunscombe")
Enoch died October 28th 1782 about 15 years of age
Nathaniel died March 13th 1753 aged seven months
Sophia was born February 24 1/2 past 8 Morning 1784
Samuel -------- was born July 2nd Monday 1/2 past 7 o' )
clock in the afternoon ----------------- ) 1787
Much of the above you can find in the IGI but it would be helpful if all church records were like it.
