Canal Boats at Thrupp.

My great grreat grandparent william humphris/Humphries had a canal boat  at one stage  lived at Thrupp. 1850-1900) Any research on them would be greatly apprecaited.Did one of Louise  Coles run the Inn caalled  Britania  now the Jolly Boatman. Cheers Brad.

Hi Brad,
there is a william Humphries living on Canal Street in 1901 , he is a widower , born in Eynham 1819, retired bargeman.

what time span are we looking at ? i can't see that name on the 1852 list of oxford pubs. Do you know if was outside oxford itself ?

I have a bit of info abt Thrupp's history in general. Also found a photo in a booklet of a William & Ann Hambridge outside the Three Horseshoes Public House, Banbury Rd, near Thrupp turn in the late 1800's. He was a boatman who came from Eynsham.
