That's amazing! Walter's younger brother, Harold, was in Passchendaele with the Warwicks at the same time. His unit moved in from St Quentin in May 1917 and then went to the Arras sector on 18th Sept. Unfortunately Harold was already dead by this time as he died of wounds on 17th Sept aged 18. I never realized that he had been fighting so near his big brother.

When were you working with the CWGC, as I am mates with the head gardener at Thiepval. Who knows you may have worked together.

I was at Rouen, St Sever for three years then in Bapaume mobile group (based at Bertincourt) for a further three years. 1992-98.

The chap's name is Dougie but I don't know how long he's been out there (shall have to ask him). I know Bapaume very well since I built the Piper's memorial at Longueval. I was out there a few weeks ago actually.
