Hi derr,

Do you have her in all the census?  1881 says she was born Northumberland, 1891 Lumley Durham,1901 Castle Eden Durham.

Best thing would be to get one of her marriage certs to find her father's name and occupation:

Sept Quarter 1871 Houghton 10a 563 Susannah Steel to William Cutty

STEEL
William  30  Coalminer
Susan   25
Ann        9
William   7

There are a couple possibles for Susannah's parents in 1841 but you need the marriage certificate to be sure of her father's name

Lamesley St. Andrew:  Susannah Dawson baptised 14 Aug 1814 d/o William and Susannah  (Eighton Banks is in Lamesley parish)

No Susannah Dawson baptism in Castle Eden for any date 1813-1839

A brother George Dawson was baptised in Chester le Street St. Mary and St. Cuthbert 29 Sept 1816 s/o William and Susannah  (Lumley is in Chester le Street parish)

A brother John was baptised Tynemouth, NBL Christ Church 3 Sept 1826 s/o William and Susannah

There are probably others in other parishes betwwen 1816 and 1826--big gap.
