Garrigill gravestones

Hello Martin. Just back and found your request. There are two stones for Shaw but I am afraid they are very difficult to read especially the dates and ages. Here is what can be read:-

To the memory of Mary Shaw of Shield Hill, who departed this life on the ?? day of September/1822 aged 39 years ( they were other names on this stone but the stone was badly affected by lichen)

In loving memory of Minnie Shaw, daughter of James and Ann Vipond, who died May/31/? aged 38 years
Also Lilian their daughter , who died July/9/1882? age 59 years.
Also Mary Eleanor their daughter , who died April/16/1929? age 84 years.
Also Thomas Walter? their son who died February/1951 aged 87 years.

Careful about the dates and ages but if they are your family the info may be helpful.

hi.geoff.I HAVE BEEN trying to track the parents of samuel white and mary vipond ,from garrgill 1679-1750,but had no luck ,did you see them on the grave stones, the church looks lovely on the web pages ,hope to go when weather better in summer,I am from the WHITE side seems they were in garrgill and alston for a long time lead mining ,yuk . hard life .hope you can help barb.
