Welsh Hospital

I think this is the one

http://www.sole.org.uk/vichosp.htm

quote

"Francis’ death in 1919 at the age of 54 is registered in South Stoneham, and an entry in the Principal Probate Registry Index reads as follows:

Francis Soule late of Kelvedon, Hound Road, Netley Abbey, Hampshire (Retd. Ty. Lt. QM R.A.M.C.) died 23 November 1919 at the Welsh Hospital, Netley. Administration (with Will) at Winchester to Mary Elizabeth Soule, widow, 13 November 1920."

Welsh Hospital, is part of the Royal Victoria in Hamphsire
South Stoneham is/was in Hampshire

Hello Sandy,

I'm still going for Bagthorpe Infirmary (as it was called from 1902 to 1929), originally part of the Bagthorpe workhouse and quite close to Bulwell. See this site for the history and some pictures:

http://www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html?Nottingham/Nottingham.shtml

This quote is extracted from it: "During the First World War, the infirmary cared for military patients which were brought in to a specially constructed railway siding at the north of the site."

What are you transcribing Sandy?
The third column is confusing as they do not seem to be true registration districts.

Going back to the Welsh Hospital; the writing above South Stoneham may refer to an annexe. St Mary Extension possibly. There is a St Mary's Road, which runs into Hound Way on the modern map.

Sandy,

I take back what I said about them not being true registration districts and think I have solved the Clipstone entry.

I found a place called Kneesall on the map and also that it is a registration sub-district of Southwell.

I would still like to know what you are transcribing though.

Hi Phil

I am transcibing the Northamptonshire war dead from both World Wars (and also
family graves where noted).

It is a project that is becoming quite time consuming.  :)

Without the help of other rootschatters here though I would not be able to make the
entries correct so I thank you all once again.

I know the feeling Sandy,

I did a burial register a couple of years ago. It took me six months to get from 1813 to 1837, working at it virtually every night. I still haven't started the second one.  :)

Good luck with it and keep posting the problem ones.

Thanks Phil

Burial records for me are easy.  :)

I am trying to collate all the information I have from different sources about our
Northamptonshire WW1/WW2 war dead.

I am sure they will be more queries.

Thanks again much appreicated.
