Rank & Regiment Help Please
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 14:14 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me which Rank and Regiment this is?

I am guessing it's WW1 as the man died before WW2.

Thanks

I'm not going to say anything about the first photo,  other than the obvious, scottish! ;D (territorial unit shoulder titles??)

the second photo is a soldier of the Royal Army Medical Corps, WW1 vintage, probably early war judging by the uniform

are they the same soldier ???

(a name would help us, and possibly we could discover more! ;))

Yes he was Scottish  born in the highlands  ;D

His name is John "Jack" McLean b 1890 d 1937 which made me assume it was WW1.

are they the same soldier ???

I always thought both pictures were of John, perhaps I am wrong if these are different regiments?

If you could discover more on John and his war life I would be most intrigued to know.

Looking at the records I have for him, I should have spelt his surname MacLean - sorry!

Thank you very much! ;D

Very strange... about the medic... I know he had some brother's perhaps it's one of them?  Although the only brother I know of was Donald MacLean, any medics of that name?
