Any ideas how to find Walter Timms, born c1732
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 22:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

A set of my so many times great grandparents were called Walter Timms and Ann Storer. They married in Packington, Leicestershire on 7 Jan 1758. From the licence and the marriage entry I know the following about Walter:

Born: c1732
Residence at the time of marriage: Greasley

A friend of mine has searched the Greasley PRs from 1728 to 1734 and found no christening of him.

Just wondered if anyone had any good ideas how I could go about finding who his parents were etc.

Hope someone can help,

Many thanks

colwoodtom

Hi colwoodtom,

There is a submitted record on the IGI:

Birth:  Walter Timms  1732  Packington, Leicester

Don't know if Greasley and Packington are in the same area ; perhaps check Packington PRs.

Hello Nanny Jan,

Afraid that the submitted entries cannot be trusted - this is a case of someone not checking the marriage licence details so just assuming he was from where he got married but I have checked the PRs (Packington is in Leicestershire) and there is no christening for him in there.

Hi,

Yes I'm aware of submitted entries, that's why I advised checking the PRs.

Have you tried working outwards from where you first find him and checking records parish by parish?
