Found these baptisms in the Hastings Registers:

All Saints - 16th April 1834 - John, son of William & Ann Carpenter, All Saints parish, Sailor
St Clements - 15th Oct 1831 - William, son of William & Ann Carpenter, Mariner
Weslyen Methodist - 25th Dec 1841 - Susannah, daughter of William & Ann Carpenter,

It kind of confirms some data for you

Many thanks for the 1841 data and the possible marriage reference.  I'll pursue the marriage cert I think as this may give more detail about Ann's parents.
