Perks1 & Fletcherhist,

Found more Chapmans arriving earlier than 1825...

Isaac Chapman father of the above & others.

I'll look the cards up for you when I have some more spare time.

And Perks1, I think that your John Perkins might be a younger brother to Susannah Eliza unless she had a much older brother & then possibly a nephew...

Hi Merlin,
Thanks again. Was your great-grandfather Sherlock Holmes?

Cheers

Merlin and Fletcherhist

Yet again! I just grin with excitement every time I log on. I just cant believe all this things you are sending us, Merlin. I've been searching for ages and failed to come up with any real evidence - just ideas that I can't prove. However, its all making sense now. Thankyou.

I did find a while back some birth records for both John Perkins and Susannah Eliza Perkins which seemed to show they may be brother and sister but wasn't at all sure because the Tasmanian Family Links database, which has limited info on it, said he was born in Wales and gave nothing much for Susannah Eliza either. However, I couldn't find a John Perkins born in Wales at the right time only the one in London.

I'll have to try to find it again and post it for you both.

Perks1 (with a very happy face).
Butler - Yorkshire
Harwood - Hertfordshire
Latour - India
Milne - India, Northumberland
Perkins - Berkshire, Huntingdonshire, Pembrokeshire, Tasmania
Price - Ireland, Liverpool
Watson - Northumberland

Hi Perks1,

As to the 'Tasmanian Family Links database' take care with them:

Except where indicated by '(AO)', the family links in the database have not been made by the Archives Office and are not therefore able to guarantee their accuracy. Links made by the National Heritage Foundation have been built up from a diverse range of sources which have not themselves been checked.

So, if you find something ask if I can verify it from 'Official Records'.

Perks1 & Fletcherhist,

Here is somewhere you might like to spend some time, you will find a WEALTH of information on your families which can solve puzzles for you & they are free to download.

Tasmanian Wills & Letters of Administration from 1824-1989

Recently the TAHO have put COPIES OF WILLS (AD960) AND LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION (AD961) UP TO 1989 HAVE BEEN DIGITISED AND ARE NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE.

To view a digitised record, search the index by name and then click on the 'view record' link in the 'search results' screen. Only series AD960 and AD961 have been digitised.

The documents which have been digitised are not the originals. They are copies of the wills and letters of administration which were transcribed by Probate Registry staff into registers. In some cases the age, shades of colour and quality of ink make the documents difficult to read, even in their original form.
