« on: Wednesday 12 March 08 23:06 GMT (UK) »

Hi i was wondering if there is any way of going back before 1790 i am trying to trace Thomas Bendalls and Susan Fox's Parents but not sure where to look passed 1790 a little clueless in how to get that information,
They both from Earl Stonham and married in Earl Stonham but how do i find out further back.
Any ideas

thankyou

Hi Roxiebaby

You could try www.familysearch.org, which is the Mormon site, it goes back hundreds of years.

Welcome Roxiebaby!

I hope that you will visit us often and make lots of progress with your research.  Please be sure to register your surnames on our SURNAME INTERESTS TABLE.

http://surname.rootschat.com/

Researching pre 1837 is not as easy as post 1837 because civil registration did not exist and church records did not give as much information as that found on post 1837 birth/marriage and death certificates.

Little Nell explains this very well on this thread.

Suffolk researchers are fortunate in that most of the Anglican Parish Records are for sale on microfiche at the Suffolk Record Office.

The Suffolk Family History Society publications page is also worth a visit.

Lots of lookups are also available at The Suffolk Surnames List.

And of course many of RootsChat's members have bought parish record fiche from the SRO and so it is always asking for lookups on our LOOKUP REQUESTS board.
