Shiel(d) Dykes?

Shiel(d) Dykes is a small place about four miles north of Longframlington.Does anyone know what parish this would have been in during the 1820s.

Go into Genuki, Northumberland, Longframlington, Nearby Places, then there is a long list!
Shield Dykes is at 4 miles NNE [ of Longfram.], ref NU150060. There are then 3 churches to choose from!

Shield dykes was in Shilbottle parish according to the Victoria County History.

The "ancient" parish of Alnwick comprised of seven "townships"..

Southside, Abbeylands, Cannongate, Denwick, Hulne Park, Alnwick itself and
Shield Dykes ( or Shieldykes)

The book "Goodwife Hot.. Northumberland's Past as shown in it's Place Names"
by Godfrey Watson, has it that the name was derived from words meaning the "dug-out embankment where swine were kept"  .
