Many thanks Julieann for your efforts on my behalf. Even so, NOT finding his resting place helps narrow down where he CAN be. He may have been taken, by his father, back to his Parish of Birth (Ballantrae) for burial as was the custom of the time.

I believe Ballantrae burial records are held by Girvan Registration Office but can't figure out to contact them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Julieann1,

Could you please have a look to see if you have any "Gillespies" in the Ayr cemetary. I am mostly looking for John who died before the 1851 census was taken and his wife Agnes who died sometime between the 1851 and the 1861 census.

Thanks
Wendy

Wendy,
Your John and Agnes are not in any of my books.  There are a few others. Just off to work, so will copy them later.

Hello Julie,

I live in Melbourne, Australia and its a long swim to the west coast of Scotland!

I'm trying to get ANYTHING on a James JACKSON and his wife Margaret MILLAR. They were both born around 1779 so would probably have died about 1830-1850. I thought that they were both born at Newton-on-Ayr, but can't find any proof of that. Their youngest daughter, Agnes, appears to have been born/christened there in November, 1807.

I believe that you'r having really nice weather up there. Wish I could be there to experience it.

Best Wishes,

Tom.
