Completed, thanks to Tati ~ Francis Graves Predgen/Pridgen - lost him
« on: Tuesday 18 March 08 15:29 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone find this young man on a census anywhere please, or his baptism?  Will be sending for his birth cert, don't know his parents' names yet.

Francis Graves Predgen
born Dec Qu 1845 Hull 22/435
died  Dec Qu 1871 Hull 9d 153 aged 26

Predgen name frequently mistranscribed, but can't find him in any census, can anyone else?

Thanks for looking, Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Are you sure the one who dies in 1871 isn't the Frances married to a William?  :-\

Hi Tati,

you're so quick!!

Ah, yes, William Henry is my other odd one, I have all his later details, I know his father was my gt.gt.uncle Asher/Asia Predgen, (from Wm Henry's marriage cert), still working on it but think Asher's the one who went down with his ship in 1847 leaving wife and 8 children, I only know of the one child Wm Hy as yet, and thought Francis Graves Predgen might connect somewhere as Wm was staying with Graves grandparents.

I don't know abt the other family yet, they were all born Lincs, but it's a strong possibility as I haven't looked for them in 1881 yet to see if Frances is still alive, the death on freebmd does say Frances -

oh blast! just found a death for a Francis aged 4 in 1850 on the Yorks bmd site

Thanks Tati   :D :D

Think you're right Tati, that death must have been for Frances, William's wife, he seems to have remarried in 1874 to Eleanor Ann Ruler & his daughter Annie was living with grandmother Lucy in 1881, not my family (or not linked as yet)

So little Francis Graves Predgen must be the one who died 1850 no wonder he's not on any census.

Please could anyone find his baptism in Hull 4th qu 1845  ? His grandparents are possibly Francis and Margaret Graves, but only children showing on census with them are Henry and Jesse and neither are his parents.  Looking for Francis and Margaret Graves' daughter who must have married a Predgen but no luck yet, she's not with them in 1841.

All found now - Francis Graves' daughter was on census with him under her first married name Howgate and she later married Asher Predgen and Francis Graves Predgen was their son, he did die aged 4 in 1850

Thanks Tati for sending me in the right direction!

Barbara  :)
