The only entry on Family Search is a marriage submitted by a member 1829 Joseph Clarke to Ann King-  6th July 1829.

It may be worth trying to get films of parish registers for St Mary's Nottingham yourself through a Family History library or asking for a check.

That entry also shows on the Notts FHS transcriptions. If you can't get to see the record yourself, Notts Archives will print a copy off their microfiche for a small charge ....only be a couple of pounds as you know the date.

Looked for burials for Joseph but found a couple of possibles

Joseph Clarke Nottingham St Mary 21/02/1837 age 41, abode Clare St
Joseph Clarke Nottingham St Mary 26/12/1837 age 33, abode Garner's Hill

Death on Free BMD for Salome - 1888 Nottinghamshire

Just thinking if I applied for Salome or Joseph's death certificate, would it tell me anything about the family? If I asked the records office to look up Joseph Ann's birth, would her baptism confirm her father's name?

Well I am having a toil finding Joseph (ine/ Ann) married to Samuel in the censuses. I'm only doing that because of what you said about the connection re Liverpool - not sure if it means anything or not.

Have found your family in 1891 - again you probably have them:
1891 RG12; Piece: 2683; Folio 13; Page 19
The two Anns- both widows.
Lots of puzzles.
It's odd too that Salome seems to be everywhere now but Joseph Ann/Ann/Josephine isn't there in the baptisms.  :-\ I wonder why someone has submitted Salome and Joseph and Ann's marriage details on Family Search but not Joseph Ann  :-\

Her marriage certificate would have her father's name on it and occupation probably. (even though he would be deceased).
If you have his death date, a certificate would give death cause and the person reporting - as would Salome's.
The Lawyer bit is interesting - I suppose a lawyer is always a good job- I wonder if it is a misread of Sawyer- don't want to be unkind.

Perhaps Ann and Salome returned to Nottingham if Salome was ill and Ann was ageing.

I wish we knew!

Hi,
Joseph Ann married Samuel Burton and they appear in various census entries over the years and a Samuel Burton (down as Bertan I think) appears in Liverpool in 1881 who appears as married, born in Nottingham around the right time but isn't with his family so I'm wondering if he is mine and he helped his mother and sister in law for some reason?
My Joseph Ann is down as just that even when she's a Burton and it seems their kids took on the Burton-Clark surname as it ties in with a puzzle a bit later on!

Does anyone have any baptism transcripts on disk to check this please? It was 15/02/1830 at St Mary's.
Many thanks.

Well - you have me foxed with this couple. Various searches on ancestry do not bring them up - there is a Samuel in 1871 and 1881 as a boarder in Liverpool but that's all I can see at the moment and you have them on the censuses which is the main thing.
Heather advised you yesterday re Nottingham FHS so it may be good to contact them.

best wishes
