mannheim was situated 2 miles from the town
the barrack blocks could hold 10.000 prisoners.
in february 1917,it was used as a clearing or exchange camp, for british POWs going to switzerland or england as exchanged prisoners.
there was a clock tower in the centre of the camp, also a library and reading hall, the prisoners were allowed to garden in the open spaces.
came under the command of the german 14th army corps

MANNHEIM.—A town (pop. 200,000) on, the right bank of the Rhine, connected by by a bridge with Ludwigshafen. The prison camp is situated on sandy soil near a big manoeuvring field two miles from Mannheim. Barracks laid out for 10,000 prisoners. Wooden huts and other buildings. In February, 1917, it was used as a clearing or exchange camp for British prisoners of war going to Switzerland and England. There is a clock-tower in the centre of the camp, also a library and reading hall. Gardening in the open spaces. I4th Army 'Corps

hi knellie.this is a reply from the red cross 11.12.2007.
dear mike.i regret that the british red cross does not hold records of individal prisoners of war or internees.

on the person  you are inquiring about.
you can write  to the ICRC. ADDRESS
