Marriage Look up Manchester
« on: Friday 21 March 08 18:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering if skp may be able to do a marriage look up for me please.

The marriage was in 1844 between Thomas Royle and Anne Heaton, at Eccles Parish St Mary's Salford. C1/6/238

Or J/F/M 1844 Chorlton Volume 20 page 91

Anne is confusing me. I can't find them at all on the 1851. On the 1861 Ann says she's from Horwich, and on the 1871 she's calling her Nancy ( I believe to have been another form of Ann ) but from Blackrod.

The parents I thought were hers, may now not be as there were Ann and Nancy Heatons christened in both places at around the same time.

I did have her parents as Edward and Fanny ( nee Hopwood ) this 1 was christened Horwich.  The other christened Blackrod, had parents John and Mary, who had moved to the Manchester area.

Funnily enough, Thomas and Ann/Nancy's first children, who may have been twins were called John and Mary. Have not found any children with the names Edward or Fanny.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance on this.

Sue

Wow SKB,

Thanks so much for that :) I had thought that John and Mary were twins, as I think it said on the IGI that they were christened the same day.

Is there any reason why part of the 1851 was unfilmed?

I think I found Thomas on the 1841, on ancestry, mistranscribed as Ryle. I think it says Watkins St.

Strange that Ann called herself Nancy on 1 census though.

Thx again, Sue

1851 Manchester and Salford is the famous water damaged census.

SandraC gives a good explanation on this post

Thanks SKB,

I thought it was the 1861 that was damaged, though I think I've also found some of the 1871 damaged for that area. Such a shame :(

I deleted a post earlier, saying something strange was happening, and it's doing it again. Some of the words are in blue with a link to amazon books. Is it my computer or is it supposed to happen?

Thanks SKB,

My comp has been playing up recently, and I was worried that it was my comp adding things that it shouldn't ::) :)
