Susan- you beat me to it- that's the entry that I found in 1900 census. Martin Loftus is 30 and Katie is 28, both born Ireland.

Lep said he arrived in US 1893 but not sure what it said in 1900 census as it was difficult to make out.

Hello Aghadowey and Susan. I do Appreciate you both trying to   help.
Susan no Martin and family are not mine.
John was born in 1898 he was 11yrs old when he went to Mayo with his father,
In the 1930 census of Philadelphia.I have Catherine living with her son Joseph. It says she is 60yrs of age. But the age is wrong Catherine was born in June 1867.[have tried for Birth cert in Ireland no luck] I do have her death cert from Phil: she died in Phil:
Joseph was born in 1906 in the census it gives his age of 23yrs.
His occupation is Conductor Street Railways.
They were living in Ward 15 Block #27 in Phil: Penn. Thankyou Both. Lep

Lep- wouldn't be too sure that Martin isn't your Michael- mistakes were made in census returns. That was the only family in Philadelphia in 1900 that fit- parents both born in Ireland, mother's name correct, father's name slightly off but most important are that John's age is correct and 'Martin's' occupation is conductor.

Hello Aghadowey. Yes they did make mistakes in the census. And yes it does fit the age of John. That is food for thought, Aghadowey.
Thankyou very much for all you have done, for me.Appreciated. :)

Hello Aghadowey, Just as a matter of interest. I had a look on my data base at Catherines Death Cert:
This is why I do not think Michael went back to the U.S. from 1909
Catherine and Joseph were then living at 3045 North Sydenham Street.
From Cert. Married. Husband Michael if alive 80yrs.
