Hi Gatacre

According to Ancestry, at present surnames beginning A-H are on-line, however some others are included as they were misfiled according to surname sequence. For instance I've found one of my Knight records on-line but not the others, but then they weren't found at Kew either as only 40% survived the bombing/fire of WW2;   a bit hit and miss  :-\

Susan

Thank you , Susan.  As I need the Thompson name I wondered if the on-line info was so far advanced.

There used to be a list on Ancestry of the films they still had to do in the section they were currently publishing. For a long time, even though they were 'doing' the As to Cs, only the As were complete. As Susan says the other initials are the misfiles, which shows what a terrible job they did of the indexing doing the microfilming. I visited Kew once to look in WO363 and found a Smith in the middle of the Ps, and that was in the misfiles!
