Does anyone have any information about Elizabeth Whigham Robertson born Caputh 1843, daughter of Donald and Margaret Robertson, brother Richard Beaumont 1837  left for New Zealand,  donald 1846, Alexander O. 1840, Peter 1852, Margaret 1835, Susan 1849 (probably married a Dow) . they lived at Craig of Stenton originally.

Evalina,

Is your offer still valid? If so, I am looking for an MI for Andrew Stirton and Mary Hewiss. I believe he was born about 1740, but I don't know his death date. If you could provide anything that would be great. Thanks.

Dan

Hi Dan,     I do have this although looks like he was born c1722.:-

This is inscribed by Andrew Stirtan, in Inchtuthil, Farmer, to the memory of his wife Mary Harris.  She was born in 1729 & died May 18th 1796 aged 67, also to the memory of their son Zabulon who died the first year of his age.  Here lies the remains of Andrew Stirtan late farmer in Inchtuthil, he died 14th July 1816 in the 94th year of his age.

Another Andrew died aged 2 in 1784. son of George Stirton & Margaret Scott.

Another Andrew died in infancy, parents james Stirton and Ann kennedy. No. date but parents died 1848 & 1866.

No Hewiss though.  Evelina

Evelina,

Thank you so much. I just reviewed something earlier tonight that confirmed Andrew might have been born in 1722. So much for going by memory. I guess Hewiss could be Harris, I was going by a reference in a book. Now here is the kicker. In 1990 I visited Scotland (I live in Canada) and toured some cemeteries looking for Stirton inscriptions. I only found one and it had a bizarre name on it ... Zabulon. The inscription you gave me is the only one I actually have recorded. I really need to check my old notes. Thanks again.

Dan

Hi Evelina,

Was wondering if you are still doing look ups for Caputh? I have Chalmers there from at least the early 1800's. I also noted that you are also looking at Chalmers! I have a John Chalmers, son of William Chalmers. John must have been born between about 1775-90 and after an apprenticeship from 1803-06 he left Caputh. I was wondering if you had any possible burials for his father or family. They were living in Wester Caputh in 1803.

Thanks
Adrianne

Hi Adrianne

I do have William's and John but no John as son of Wm.  Do you know the mother's name?

My William Chalmers 1735 born Craigie married Christian Sutor 1760 in Caputh. 5 children I know of 1761 to 1768 Janet, William, Isobvel, George & Agnes. First born Craigie, next 2 Ruffle last 2 Lethendy.  But possibley had more children I have no foun d yet.

However there does seem to be another Chalmers family in Caputh about the same time and as yet I have not found a tie in to my ones.

I can look up MI's if you give me a bit more detials.

Cheers Evelina
