Collins/Butler look ups

Am trying to locate information on Henry William Collins and his wife Rose Alice Collins (Nee Butler).

I have traced the back so far to a birth in 1914 westham 4a 502.

So far I have not managed to find any earlier trace of them that I can confirm on BMD

I have Rose Alice Collins death cert and she is shown as aged 86 in Dec of 1962 and he is shown as Deceased, a retired policeman

He is also shown as deceased in a copy of his sons marriage certificate in June 1949, I have nothing to indicate when or were he was born.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rose was born before the 1881 census so have you looked for her - it's free to search yourself at www.familysearch.org

As you know her maiden name - have you looked for her marriage to Henry Collins on freebmd as a copy of their marriage cert will give his age and his fathers name.  he was presumably born pre-1881 so when you have that info - you can check the 1881 census for him

You could also look for a birth for Henry but may find a number of entries

If they married pre-1901 - have you checked the 1901 census.  The PRO index shows occupations and is free to search. 

If Henry was a policeman - he should be easy to find on the index

Why can't I find them, although I must admit I didn't think of going back for a marriage that far, specially with a son born in 1914.

That ties in nicely with the Rose Amelia Harris who has the informant at the death of  Rose Alice Collins

i was hoping there would be a mary.a. butler aged 7 born wimbledon but there is'nt
there is however an annie aged 7. b. wimbledon maybe that was mary.a. middle name
