John Wise 1813-1854 Inquest?
« on: Thursday 27 March 08 07:39 GMT (UK) »
Helllo girls,

Pleased to hear your heat wave is over and congrats dee on yor beautiful new twiglet!

I think you will remember helping me with my Wise family in South Australia.  I now have virtually everything in place except John's death.  He was seriously injured whilst mustering cattle near Tunkalilla Beach.  He was taken by a Mr Tonkin to the whaling station at Yilki where he died from his injuries and was buried at The Tabernacle, Victor Harbor.

The date of burial was 11 June 1854.

It occurs to me that there may have been an inquest and/or a newspaper report and wonder if any of you can help.

Many thanks,
Abiam

Abiam,

I wonder if there may have been something in the newspaper of the day.

There are Indexes to Inquests, but unfortunately I don't have access to them. Also I seem to remember being told that the actual were all destroyed during WW1 as part of the war effort! Not sure if that is correct or not.....

Thank you Dee and Cando.  I have sent off to "Ask a librarian" and will let you know if they come up with anything on the information you found, fingers crossed,
