Hi
Can anyone help please with the parish records of St Mary's Luton.
I am looking for the maiden name of the mother of Sarah Butterfield chr 23 Mar 1836 at St Mary Luton.
Father is Francis Butterfield
Just hopeing they may have put her maiden name in when they registered the christening.

That looks like a second marriage for Francis. Sarah's mother is shown as Sarah

In 1841 living in Luton were Francis and Sarah both 35, and Sarah 5. Sarah senior wasn't born in Beds, so perhaps they also married in her home parish - Herts perhaps?

Sarah Butterfield age 40 was buried at Luton on 1 Oct 1845

Hi David & medhist
Thanks for replying
I had Sarah's death penciled in from the free BMD as Dec 1845.
Now with your help i have the date and age.

The 1841 census say's Sarah was born out of the county, may be Herts as you suggest but i think the christening may be the place to find something positive
The daughter Sarah was the only child to Francis and Sarah

Elizabeth Shingles was his second marriage.

Cheers
Eddie

You'll be extremely lucky if Sarah's maiden name is mentioned in her daughter's baptism.

I would try a lookup request on the Herts board for a lookup in the Allen Marriage Index

Hi,

Quite an usual name so I thought this was worth a mention,

Pallot's Marriage Index has,

Francis BUTTERFIELD  b
Sarah BIRDSEY    s
Marylebone 1833

Could Sarah have been from London, or maybe they just worked there :-\
