Military Band Identification please
« on: Friday 28 March 08 15:06 GMT (UK) »
Help please!!!

Can anyone identify the approximate date and regiment for this military band? Photo found in a box of old postcards. If I can ID it I can perhaps find someone whose relative may be in it.

Many thanks, Josey

Hi,
Not much chance of an ID at that scale I'm afraid!  :(

If you can rescan at a high resolution then we might pick up some clues.
Even an ultra high resolution scan just of one of the caps would help.
The cap badge identifies the regiment, but at the moment I can only see a white spot.

Point taken!!! Thanks very much for trying.

I have made a higher resolution scan & selected the best badges but I fear that the original postcard image may not have enough detail on it to be able to be identified.

Much better!
We have a fair chance of an ID now I'd say, or at least to limit it to a few possibles  :)

Any chance of a high def scan of the bass drum pse???

That should seal anything.

I would say that this band is far too small for the ASC band...but is could be the Cpls and below playing for the Sgts mess...

One of the badges looks like it could be ASC...

It is around 1915/6...

Well that painting is in rag order!!!

I wouldn't have it on my parade!!!

Well it is ASC, no other badge has that laurel configuration...

Still reckon its a small ensemble for the Sgts Mess though...No full screws or Sgts present...Just Ptes and Lance Jacks...
