Vol aid detachments nurses assistants in world war 1
« on: Monday 31 March 08 18:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,
don't know if this is the correct topic to include the Voluntary Aid Detachment Nurses, (Nurses Assistants) in WW1??

I found out from an aunt that my Grandma Lily Tomlinson, (b-1895), was one of the V.A.D's in Yorkshire & wondered where I might get more info on them?? I don't know which hospital she was attached to but she was born in Hull so would assume it would be a local one?

I have a group photo of her wearing a cape & white nurses cap & also a nurses watch attached to her cape by a pin.

Would love to hear from anyone who could give me more info.

Regards Jan
