What does this mean? (medal card).
« on: Monday 31 March 08 23:18 BST (UK) »
Hi there

Sorry to bother you all again.  I know you are very busy helping others with their queries.  However, I have a couple of questions regarding the documentation on my ?gt. grandfather's medal card.  It may help me identify his war records.

I understand that he had the rank of Lance Corporal.  However, does the entry underneath state he was also an Acting Corporal?

Plus, in the "Remarks" column, what does "Class Z;  9-2-19" mean?  I assume the last bit is a date.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Many thanks
Kim

re acting/lance corporal, roughly speaking yes it does, acting measning unpaid as well i imagine  see Neil's excellent reply!! ;D

re Class Z, it means he was discharged from the army into Class Z reserve on the 9-2-19, class z was the reserve of trained, fit troops who would be called up in the event of another war
