Swan / Combe Bathgate / Torpichen
« on: Tuesday 01 April 08 20:00 BST (UK) »
My search leads me to West Lothian....

Andrew Swan (died 21Jan66) married Marion Whitelaw Swan (nee Combes, died 30Aug58) and had sons William and James, living in Burnhouse Farm, Bonnybridge.  It would appear that the Combe's (or possibly Swan) lived around Bathgate, probably with some association with Gormyre Farm, Torpichen.  I think there may have been three sisters Mary, Nellie and Marion Combe (Marion married Andrew Swan and moved to Boinnybridge) and that I have photos of them from a Bathgate photogropher.

I am visiting the Record Office in Edinburgh to try and find out more, but does anyone have any information that they think may link to this?  I would appreciate any help!

Hello BlueTans

This looks like your Marion on the 1901 and earlier census. She would then have additional siblings, brother Thomas, James and additional sister Helen, as well as Nellie. Maybe Helen went by Mary to distinguish between the mother.  Marion's parents look to be Thomas & Mary Whitelaw.

This might be James, suggest looking at the original census as I don't see a James Conet in 1861 census.
