Merchant Navy Boats WW1
« on: Wednesday 02 April 08 11:52 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find out information about Hilary II. All I know is that she was a drifter which was lost on 25th March 1916, British Isles.

I have a relative Samuel Charles Falgate who according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission was the 'skipper'.

Apart from this I cannot seem to find out any other information. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can look?

Kind Regards
Janette

Hi Janette,
I've checked the Times Digital Archive for you, but there's nothing there - sorry.
Kind regards,
Paulene :)
And just checked London Gazette (just in case), but nothing there either.
Good luck!

Hi Janette

She was a net drifter (fishing boat).  Often there were quite good reports in the local newpapers of both losses (and funerals if he was buried locally) so that is a source that you could try.
