Maloney

A newly acquired piece of family history information has shown that my Maloney family who were living in Salford, Lancs. in 1854 might have originated in Limerick - I don't know if this is the city or the county. My William Maloney's parents were Timothy and Ellen. Timothy was an ostler.  If anyone has this family in their records please get in touch. The name has many variants: apart from obvious ones like Malone or Molony I've seen Mullowney, Meleny, Millon etc. William was born circa 1834 in Ireland.

Any advice on researching ostlers in  Limerick would also be welcome.

Thanks
