Hi

Have you thought about contacting our local paper, they run a series each week called Remember When, each week is a different story about local people, who have often moved away, are people who served in the forces and they are trying to make contact with long lost friends and family.  I will enclose the link, and let you see

You can write, telephone or email, you never know someone out there may know your family, good luck

Hi

I am not sure if this is related.  My father John Lewis Farrar was born in Port Arthur Ontario in 1912.  I believe his father was William Farrar and he was adopted by a Greene  (Green) family in Eastern Canada.  Either Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland.  I will check it out but he was married to Lillian Waltire or Walthire from Luten bedfordshire.  My sister has the family bible and I will check with her.

Hi Shirley
sorry about the delay in replying.  I have two William Farrars one b1901 Grangetown he would be too young to be yours, but l have another one that might interest you l am unable to trace him after 1901 census, not able to find a marriage, army records or a death for him he is William Albert Farrar B1893 Eston Grangetown he was the illegitimate son of Ada Farrar she later married a Thomas Johnson and William Albert was living with the family in 1901 in Melsonby North Yorkshire l thought that the reason l was unable to trace him was that he had taken the Johnson name.   All the Farrars that l am researching lived in Yorkshire, do you know where your william Farrar was born.  Hope this is of some help
Thanks
Pam

Thanks maplea

I don't know much about the Farrars' at this point.  I am researching the Borrett side (maternal) because my mother and I are travelling to London in September to visit my daughter.  We are going to try to find her mother's birthplace in Greenwich.

BUT, I do want to research both trees.  I am told that William ( Dad's father) was born in Prince Edward Island and that his father was a rum runner in the Canadian Maritime provinces and in the us Eastern Seabord.   He must have been from England at some point because he did marry Lillian Waltire or Walthire from Luten Bedfordshire.  My father, John Lewis Farrar did go to live in England (Luten) in his early years.  I can't find anything on Lillian.

My sister has the family bible and I will try to have a look at it to see if any more info.

Dad was the last of the siblings but there are surviving cousins in BC and Ontario.  I will see what  can find out.

I do have pictures of William and Lillian but I will have to figure out how to scan them in.

I will send you a message with my email.
