Ruthin is in Denbighshire, so not too far from Ruabon really. I have lots of Turner's in my tree from the 1800's, common christian names are Edward, Thomas, Llewelyn, Ann, David, Catherine and Joseph. I hope that this helps. Some of my Turners are from Ruabon, these include a Maria Turner, Richard Turner, Edward Turner, to name but a few. I hope that this helps.

Reference to Edward Turner, born 1824 in Ruthin, I now have the marriage certificate showing details of his second marriage:

Edward Turner marrying a Sarah Diana Roberts on 10th November 1890. She is listed as being a widow and her father is named as James Richards (deceased). His occupation is a farmer.  Edward is also listed as a widower. His father is listed as Edward Turner, deceased, a nailor.

At the time of marriage Edward was 64 and Sarah was 41. Edward's occupation was listed as a Hosier.

The witnesses at the mariage were John Wright and Maria Wright.

I haven't been able to track down details of Sarah's parents or siblings yet.

I hope this helps you Bernie and Vicky.

Another TURNER I am interested in finding out about is a Thomas Turner who is listed in the 1851 census as residing at Turnpike House, Llan. His age is shown as 56, born in Ruthin, listed as being a Chelsea Pensioner. He is married to a Sarah and they have a relative living with them, a Sarah Edwards, age 7, born Llanfwrog, but it does not state what the exact realtionship to Thomas and Sarah is.

I think that Thomas might be the brother of Edward Turner, also born in Ruthin, who I am directly descended from.

I cannot find any reference to this Thomas in the 1841 or 1861 censuses though, perhaps someone can help. He must have been born around 1794 or 1795.
