Uniform Identification - Middlesex Regiment?
« on: Sunday 06 April 08 20:47 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I have 2 photo's one which says 'behind enemy lines 1917' on the back and the other looks like it was taken earlier.
I think the badge is a Middlesex regiment badge but can't be sure.
Can anyone confirm if it is or not?
The name of the soldier is Joseph George Stevens, but he was known as George.
I have no idea where he served and he died in 1965 so I can't ask him  :)

Any other ideas would be gratefully received....

thanks
Robert

Hi,
Thanks for that, I have the medal record for that but I can't be sure it's the middlesex regiment, the badge isn't that clear and I'm no expert.
There are some other similar names there too and as he was known as George it's possible he used that as his first name isn't it?
Cheers for the help.
Robert

That is deffo one of the Middlesex battalions...

Unfortunately, the badge is too indistinct to make out which one!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.
