For uniform colours...

And a close up of an officers....

One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

For anybody having trouble viewing the picture on the previously posted link, there is a similar picture, showing a Lancaster with some snow....

The caption reads...

Lincolnshire, England. 1944-12-08. Group portrait of members of air and ground crews at Lancaster No. 460 Squadron RAAF at RAF Station Brighton, with one of the squadron aircraft after a slight fall of snow - the first of the season.

And here's the picture.....

Stef.

In fact the posted site contains at least 3 different pictures of aircrew and groundcrew posing on a Lanc in this way.

Obviously it was the kind of picture taken more often than you might have assumed.

I think they are superb - never seen anything like it before!

Stef.

I'm thrilled to bits with the interest in this photo.  Please be patient though folks as there is hours/days  of work in the restore alone and as for the colour that's a whole different ball game.

Poll I think Jim counted 64 men on the plane itself  :o :o :o

Cheers

Sorry Cazza; and others,
Just had to reply now.  I can do naught other than to concur with all previous comments on the excellence of all restoration work.  Especially you Cazza59 as you were one of the first Aussies to welcome me to RC in late 2004.

Like the thread on the lost plane in the Cairngorm's in Wales, this has brought copious tears this grey haired old fart of a feller here in NSW.  In part due to the dedication to servicemen that you all show, the time you give soooooo  generously ALL the time.  But mainly because my dad was in the Aussie army in artillery for the whole of the war and couldn't get a posting OS because he knew too much about the job.  So he was kept in Oz to train recruits in artillery, so his big deal in the army was to hopefully save others lives through good instruction.  He was so very peeved that he had himself paraded before the top officer in Australia for an OS posting only to be told that the more junior officers had it right.

Crikey this is a tome.  Sorry girls n boys.  The story and generosity got to me emotions  :'( :'(

So thank you all  :-* :-* yep even you fellers can cop one on the cheek for your care.

Aw how sweet of you ... your kind words are appreciated R and K ... It makes the time we spend doing this really worthwhile ...  that and the fact that a few hours work on a pic can sometimes help to keep memories alive for someone is all the reward we need ..  ;) :-*

Hiya Aussie :D

Long time "no speak"  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thank you very much for your kind words, they really appreciated.

Have to say I do miss the chatroom very much and remember fondly all the laughs we had!!  I did promise Billa that I would try to keep in touch more, so I think a reunion in the chatroom is in order!!  I'll pay a visit as soon as I finish this restore...I'm sure I've got loads to catch up on!   ;)

Take care
Regards
Caz
