Thanks Geoff for all of your wonderful information and help,
sorry about the quotes. I won't do that again.
I am researching the Franklin, Samuel's, Jessel's. Waleys and Sassoon's among other many branches of my family.
I am also related to the bio-scientist Rosalind Franklin, who discovered the Single DNA Helix structure in 1953. But one of my main regrets in my life is that I never met this talented lady, who died at the young age of 37 in 1958 !!
The avatar's of my paternal grandmother, K. Jessel.
It is fun doing this amount of research.

I don't know if it still exists in any form, but the Royal Berkshire Regiment was an army regiment.

I can see why he was attached to the 2nd Battalion, the 6th was disbanded in February 1918. I assume everyone was absorbed into the remaining battalions.

The Inns of Court Regiment was the 27th (County of London) Battalion TF, The London Regiment.

Hi  :)

Presumably you had a look at this page regarding the Aisne area:

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0gl/

Sadly, he was most probably killed during the Advance to Victory.  :(

Thank you, forester but there is another thing that I don't understand which is this.
How can a member of a Battalion be part of the Inns of Court.
Surely that is to do with the legal system like the High Courts?
Great sites again.

Thanks for this information, it is sad but useful.
No I had not got that far with this messageboard yet.

I had no idea where Berry-au-Bac or the Aisne area was until today.
There is so much more than I'd ever realised was possible to find out
and a nice forum this is.
