This is the problem with the surname "Jones" in South Wales.....it's never ending.

The Lyster name on my grandmother's side was easy.

Would agree with Hanes, think your parents marriage cert is the only way forward to try confirm his father's name.

Do you have your fathers date of birth? Would help to trace in 1939 register. There are at least 3 Thomas Jones born Swansea with birthdate of 1917, In free index 1921 census.

More detail required to narrow down or the marriage cert of your parents would maybe help, given by Hanes

Just a follow up on this, but it seems my father Thomas Jones was born in 1915 in Swansea, and his mother's maiden name was Jenkins.

After a lot of searches I've found a Benjamin Jones marrying a Margaret J Jenkins in 1912 so that could well have been the name of my paternal grandparents.
