Hi....I just signed up because I found this thread link on Google.

The information here.....

Ellen Ellery Lyster
Dec qtr 1886
Birkenhead

......relates to my maternal grandmother.

She married my grandfather Joseph Griffiths, and my mother Dulcie Robena Griffiths was born in Swansea in 1918.

Do you or anybody else have any more information.....it'll all be Swansea connected I expect.

Many thanks!

Pete

Not sure who may still be active, but if anyone is interested, I can link Elizabeth Maliphant Ellery through her maternal Maliphant line back to 1520 .....

Hi Bruce.....I'd be very interested because Elizabeth Maliphant Ellery was my maternal great grandmother.

First, a warm welcome to Rootschat. What information do you have already?
Joseph and Ellen's marriage cert and banns can be viewed on line at FindMyPast, also Dulcie's baptism.
Both registers are also held at Swansea Archives where they can be viewed off shelf.

Many thanks.....I don't have any more info than that really.

It's my father's side that I really wanted to trace: Thomas Jones, born 1917 (Swansea) and died 1959 (Swansea).

But I can't seem to find anything specific online.

A Thomas Jones married a Dulcie R Griffiths, March Qtr 1941, Swansea, vol 11a  249.

Is this the marriage? What do you know about Thomas' father - your grandfather?

That's my parents! I know nothing about my paternal grandparents.......from what I can remember they died before I was born. And my father died in 1959 when I was 5 so I never had the opportunity to find out any more.

All I do know is that they lived in the Llansamlet area of Swansea, and my father had 2 sisters and (I believe)3 brothers.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Do you have your fathers date of birth? Would help to trace in 1939 register. There are at least 3 Thomas Jones born Swansea with birthdate of 1917, In free index 1921 census.

More detail required to narrow down or the marriage cert of your parents would maybe help, given by Hanes

Cas

I've been chasing the '39 register and the 1921 Census but each provides a choice of possibles.

If the grandfather died before Pete was born there's every chance the marriage cert will not be carrying his details. But the only way I see a breakthrough?
