 i had a talk with an elderly relative and she told me
john ernest sarre   was married to  josephine  utah
from guernsey
does anyone know of this name on guernsey i have had no luck in finding records for anyone by that name[utah]

john ernest sarre was born  c.1878  died 28th june 1940 st peter port
no dates for josephine  sorry!
no marriage date

Hi

I've checked the 1881/91/1901 for Josephines on Guernsey to see if any surname looked or sounded like Utah - none did

If he was the John E Sarre son of Alfred - he was still single in 1901

I think the problem rests with the perceived pronunciation of the surname which is clearly not spelt Utah

he may hvae married after 1901 like you said as his son douglas was born 1920 and there were two other siblings
alfred hedley sarre  m.judith [still looking for dates for these]
john ernest  c1878 m. josephine
douglas b.1920 d.2001
relative said josephines name was the same as the state in america
