Here's a puzzle - I have found John Matthews on the 1891 - single and in lodgings in Glamorgan.  Aged 49 b Hereford occ labourer

I just cannot find them in either the Welsh or English 1891.  I've tried searching just on all Frederick's b Glamorgan 1889-1891 but nothing

Freebmd has 2 entries for Frederick Arthur Matthews - both Cardiff reg district but one 1889 and the other 1891

As he was 11 in 1901 - my money's on the 1889 entry

well thanks for trying again, if i could bother you again, would you know the addresses that they were in on the 1901 llancarvan census & the earlier one of 1891 ? i will check all the names on freebmd now.

I found an 1884 marriage on freebmd which included a John Matthews and a Sarah Ann Tyler

I've just been checking the 1881 for all Sarah's b Gloucs Coleford and found ..... Sarah A Tyler aged 24 visitor in  Llangarren  Herefordshire  - the same place of birth as John Matthews in 1901

 you are quite correct of course, the only problem here is that i am trying to help an oap who does not have a lot of info of his family and even less money to spend on certificates, so any info i can get from the kind people on this site is very much appreciated, so thank you kindly for your help without which i would not be able to help a lovely old man, kali.
