INDIA: British in India in the 1870s
« on: Tuesday 15 April 08 18:50 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace my great grandmother's birth in Lucknow, India in the 1870s.  So far, I have tried the Overseas births indexes (army + civil), the Bengal birth indexes and FIBIS without any success.

The family were RC and I think one of the problems may be that the baptisms recorded in the indexes and on FIBIS may only cover the Anglican parishes.  I was wondering whether the best way to go from here would be to try and contact a local church in Lucknow to see if it would be possible for them to check their baptism registers for the relevant period.  The only problem is, I do not know who I should contact.  Can anyone tell me what the relevant RC church in Lucknow would have been in this period?

I would be grateful for any other tips which anyone may have to help me trace this birth / baptism.
