James McVane married Elizabeth Sproat at Haddington in 1854.
James b 1855 Haddington, Charles b 1856 Haddington,
Thomas b 1860 Wigtown, Samuel b 1862 Wigtown.
They are at Back Road, Wigtown in 1861 but we cannot find them in 1871
Can someone out there locate them, we are pulling our hair out here.

After more research we have discovered James McVane died in 1862 at Wigtown, also son Thomas, now we are looking for Elisabeth remarrying, but not having any luck there.

Do you have copies of wedding certs for any of the other boys - if married in Scotland, would indicate if Elizabeth was still alive.

Searched Scotlands People  from 1861 to 1930 - only 1 Elizabeth McVane dies in East Lothian in that timeframe - but she was born in 1860 (using the free search).
