i would say about 1700 on the Edsers...... there was a site on the internet which got this line back another 100 years, when i politely asked what sources the person used i got no reply.
with the Rose's about the same in Abinger to a marriage of Edward ROSE and a Jane Lane in 1724 in a place called Headley which is funny as they were 'both of Abinger'

I take it you have parents you would like to assign to yr person in the registers but cannot prove it to yr satisfaction... it's a pain isn't it.

No, I have a person without parents, no apparent baptism but that could be because of the English Civil War/Commonwealth period or possibly Quakers or missed off the registers or not baptised where I'm expecting him to be, he just appears from no-where. Too many Longhursts with the same first name in the same villages at the same time doesn't help. So to get one with an unusual name, you would think he could be easily placed somewhere. Yes, it's a pain.

i have come across longhursts in my meanderings through the census returns of abinger.
i have the surrey marriage and burial index on cd rom, shame they haven't got one for the baptisms yet, i may find Edward ROSE and you might find yr Longhurst.

Cheers

I've got all the parish records on microfiche for that part of Surrey and a lot more. He's not there.  ???

Anyway, we're getting off the thread, you're original request for a baptism look-up is on file.

Hi Iain

From a 'newstyle' printed register, not single one liners written in a book

All Souls (Langham Place) 1832

29th April

Thomas Edward son of Thomas & Elizabeth Pye
Abode: 19 Upper Marylebone Street
Quality, Trade or Profession: Trade
Date of Birth: 25 November 1827

Trade's not very helpful  :( but you have an address
