 George Ward  my gt grandfather born Walton Lancs 1823.
 1881 census shows him living with daughter Mary Ellen age 7.  !891 census shows Mary Ellen living with an Aunt.  Problem is who was her mother?

are you certain you have the correct mary Ellen in 1891

1881 she is age 7 b. over darwen

the one (I think) you are referring to in 1891 is 13 (?) b Liverpool

there is also in 1891 mary E age 18 servant b. Under darwen??

Thank you Suz.

I am not sure about anything but in 1891 census there is a Mary Ellen age 20( maybe a bit old) living with Alice 32 Elizabeth 35 Jane (head) Mary 31 .  She is described as neice.  I found a George Ward had died in 1882 and I know he was dead when she got married i1894.

I cannot check finer details until Friday
