According to another 1947 crossing Bessie says she has never been in the USA.  It gives her birthdate as Aug. 1907, Redruth, there is a Doris Grangey born 1911 and Bessie Grangey born 1907 in Redruth???

There is a death for Norman Gordon F Holman in Saanich, British Columbia on May 24, 1968.

Maybe one of the BC chatters can help with the obit. for him.

i will look into the Grangeys in Redruth
Still not sure what Norman did in canada (for work, and how they lived etc.) but all the details you have given me are filling in lots of gaps.
so thank you one again

Hi toni and Karen....well, there was a Holman who died in 1977...Stanley Norton Holman age 75, in Victoria BC.

I didn't find a marriage either.

I've been looking at the Ontario Resources, thought they might have married in Ontario, but Ontario seems to be organized by county. I know absolutely nothing about Ontario :P

Sorry not to be much help, toni, but Canada is like 10 different countries instead of 10 Provinces. They all have separate provincial vital records and different ways of doing things, and some have great resources and some, next to nothing. Your best bet would be a couple of general Canada experts like Karen, or JJ, or somebody in BC.

But I'll keep it on my plate and see if anything pops up...

Cheers,
China

I found Ontario marriages...on Ancestry, duh...but no Norman Holman, no Holman/Gerber, and no Elizabeth Gerber married anything like a Holman, no Betty or Bessie either. Not in Ontario.... :P
